Children of all ages are welcome, but only those over 4 are permitted on game drives - and must be accompanied by an adult.  In terms of child-friendly facilities, there is a child-minding facility on-site, as well as a children's menu. 

Yes, it's ideal. There's the Presidential Suite with an extravagant stone bath and deck with a Jacuzzi for romance. You can also set up romantic picnics in the bush and enjoy couples spa treatments. 

Twice daily game drives, spa treatments, and fishing are offered on-site.

Food at Umzolozolo is prepare by a chef, who takes into account all dietary requirements. You can expect meals such as Biltong and strawberry salad; Camembert and fig preserve on Melba toast, full English breakfasts, buffet lunch, rump steaks and other gourmet fare.

Umzolozolo Private Safari Lodge is located within the malaria-free Nambiti Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, set across 23,000 acres of pristine African bushveld. The reserve encompasses a rich mosaic of habitats, including open grasslands, savannah, thornveld, riverine bush, acacia woodland and dramatic waterfalls, creating one of South Africa's most diverse safari destinations. This remarkable biodiversity supports the Big Five, more than 40 additional mammal species, and nearly 300 bird species, offering exceptional wildlife viewing throughout the year.

You can spot wildlife directly from the lodge’s decks and pool area overlooking open plains and a waterhole. Typically, you'll spot elephant, giraffe, a chorus of birdlife and a variety of plains game. 

The whole of Nambiti Game Reserve spans 10,000 hectares of malaria-free bushveld, comprising grasslands, acacia thornveld, and riverine bush. This mix of habitats supports a variety of wildlife, which includes both black and white rhino (dehorned to protect them from poaching). In addition to the Big 5, you'll find cheetah, hyena, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, and a wealth of other wildlife.

You can drive from Johannesburg, which will take you a maximum of 4 hours. From Durban it's 2.5 hours drive. If you're driving to Umzolozolo Private Safari Lodge in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve, you'll first make your way to the Woodlands Gate, where you'll leave your vehicle in the secure parking area. A lodge ranger will meet you there and transfer you to the lodge in a safari vehicle, as private vehicles are not permitted inside the reserve. If flying, you'll into Durban's King Shaka International Airport and either drive or arrange a transfer from there.

There are over 200 species of bird, each made more identifiable by the availability of birding reference books in the main area.
